On Sunday, April 12, 2020, John Randal (Randy) Johnson passed away at the age of 69. Randy was born on August 17, 1950, in Batesville, Arkansas to Clarence Robert and Louise (Ward) Johnson. On August 25, 1974, he married his high school sweetheart Dianne Flowers. They raised two daughters, Kristin and Katie.

Randy obtained a degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He used that degree to proudly serve the public as a North Little Rock Police Officer, retiring after 20 years at the rank of Captain. He then served as Sheriff of Pulaski County from 1995 to 2006.

Randy was known for his humility, and his kind and compassionate spirit. He will be remembered for his unassuming nature, service to his community, commitment to his family and his love of sports, especially baseball and his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. He also loved his Central Baptist and Park Hill Baptist Church families where he served as a deacon and taught 4th grade Sunday school for many years.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Park Hill Baptist Church (201 E C Ave, North Little Rock 72116) or the Randy and Dianne Johnson Endowed Scholarship at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private graveside service will be held at Rest Hills Cemetery Thursday, April 16, 2020. No visitation is planned out of respect for social distancing. Since we are unable to visit with you face to face, we would appreciate any comments or stories you would like to share about Randy on the Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home website at www.SmithFamilyCares.com

Our Thoughts and Prayers go out to the Johnson Family.
